The Last Days

The last days began in the first century and will continue until the day of the Lord.
And it shall come to pass in the last days, saith God, I will pour out of my Spirit upon all flesh: and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, and your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams: And on my servants and on my handmaidens I will pour out in those days of my Spirit; and they shall prophesy: And I will shew wonders in heaven above, and signs in the earth beneath; blood, and fire, and vapour of smoke: The sun shall be turned into darkness, and the moon into blood, before the great and notable day of the Lord come. Acts 2:17-20 KJV
The term “the last days” is a reference to the final days of Satan being the ruler of this world. When Jesus returns on the day of the Lord, Satan is cast into the abyss and stays there during the 1000 year reign of Christ when He rules the nations. Jesus gives us an overview of what will take place in the last days.
This gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in the whole world as a testimony to all the nations, and then the end will come. Matthew 24:14 NASB
This is the same thing that we see in Revelation with the seven letters to the seven Gentile churches which is followed by the opening of the seven seals. During the last days, the gospel will be preached around the world to all the nations then the events described by the seven seals will bring about the end. When those events have run their course, Jesus returns and puts an end to Satan’s exercising authority.
