The End Times
Jesus tells us in Matthew 24 that after the gospel is preached to all the nations then the end will come. We know that by comparing that statement with what we see in Revelation that the events of the end times will be unfolded by the opening of a series of seals.
After these things I looked, and behold, a door standing open in heaven, and the first voice which I had heard, like the sound of a trumpet speaking with me, said, "Come up here, and I will show you what must take place after these things." Revelation 4:1 NASBJohn had just finished writing seven letters to seven Gentile churches which is representative of the times of the Gentiles. He is then called up to the throne room where he sees what will take place after the gospel has been proclaimed around the world. He sees God sitting on the throne holding a scroll that is sealed with seven seals. There also appears there a Lamb who was found worthy to take the scroll and open its seals.
The things that take place when the seals are opened are also described in Matthew 24 and are identified by Jesus as signs that we should look for to determine the nearness of His return.
"Now learn the parable from the fig tree: when its branch has already become tender and puts forth its leaves, you know that summer is near; so, you too, when you see all these things, recognize that He is near, right at the door." Matthew 24:32-33 NASBThe end times consist of what takes place when the seven seals are opened. The associated events provide us with signs of the end times. The last day of the end times is when Jesus returns and puts an end to Satan’s rule.
